Ok, so it's been a week of gluten-free and sugar-free excitement for me. I'm hooked. Seriously, I'm hooked.
I figured I had done my duty so last night for dinner we had chinese take out. I was careful to avoid the breaded stuff ~ and I even skipped the rice (which is not gluten but still?!?! I don't know) ~ but today I felt like CRAP. And I was back to needing my afternoon nap.
I really don't think it was coincidence, so I'm getting back on the wagon. Ugh. Life seems boring but I can't give up, knowing how much more amazing I feel going sugar- and gluten-free.

I have a friend that has to eat gluten free foods because she has sillac (sp?) disease.
Im not real sure what it all entails, just heard her husband mentions he eats the same as her in sunday school class.
you're my hero!!!
Ok I'm butting in again. There are many many gluten free foods that are "mainstream". If you go to general mills website, they have an entire list of gluten free products. Also, there is now a gluten free Bisquick, so you can actually make and eat crusts, pastries and even use it as coating for things like fried chicken. Also, Kraft products will specifically identify WHEAT in their product labels, but don't provide a full list of gluten-free products on their website. Things like A-1 are gluten free and what I've found is that the Wal-Mart brand of products (Great Value's the name) almost always label their product on the package if it's gluten free. If you're looking for ideas on foods to eat, google and google some more. I personally borrow from a blogger at www.offthewheatenpath.blogspot.com.
Keep going! You're going to feel sooo much better. Especially with no sugar on top of it!
@Bunny ~ Thank you so much for the suggestions! I have been reading a lot of sites about being sugar- and gluten-free, one of my favorites being http://www.simplysugarandglutenfree.com I am definitely going to be working on a scone or muffin recipe that I like, since I think I'll really miss that, too.
Thankfully I'm used to reading labels already because we have milk and peanut allergies in our family. Whew!
Your blog name and tagline makes me smile. =)
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!
And also? You're a stronger woman than me, going gluten and sugar free. Wow! Impressive! Keep it up, sounds like it's working. =)
Just happened across your blog, and thought I'd mention-- if you had take-out Chinese, you probably had gluten. Soy sauce contains gluten, as do a number of other products that are used in Asian cooking.
I'm allergic to wheat, and the two types of restaurants that I avoid pretty aggressively are Chinese and Italian. There's usually very little I can eat in either kind of place. The same is probably true for you.
