Anyone heard of the new show on ABC called Rookie Blue? From the trailers I am completely underwhelmed. Check out a trailer here: http://abc.go.com/shows/rookie-blue
I'll do my best to withhold judgment until I actually see an episode, but from the looks of things it can't hold a candle to SouthLAnd. But we shall see. I might have to go get the first season DVD of SouthLAnd from Amazon to hold me over!

Oho, when we saw a commercial for this show JB stared at the screen incredulously for the whole time. There's some part in the trailer or whatever where the rookie cop draws her gun on some scared kid with a gun in some sort of Mexican standoff, and she pleads with him, "DON'T MAKE ME DO THIS!! PLEASE!!"
1) JB remarked that if he were ever drawn on, the other person would be down like a load of bricks.
2) That offended my feminist sensibilities. Would they write such a scene for a male rookie cop? Maybe, but I doubt it.
I'm sure it'll be a fine program.
I actually wasn't a fan of Southland because of one episode with a POS veteran cop (Yeah, I'm all about snap judgements!!) but this one makes me giggle.
Nothing like hot, young, hardbodies with lots of drama and s*x and angst. Nothing even remotely real about it, but thats kinda the norm for TV.
I lay down a bet here and now that within their first 3 episodes they do something SWAT-like. 'cause everybody wants to be a SWATGod!
Um The Mr and I were just saying that this looks so cheesy. The Mr. is a training officer. He laughted when he saw the preview, Like if it were your first day and you had to choose from shooting or not you just shoot. That chick makes cops look wimpy. I was not really interested in catching the show but as you stated I'll give it a go and sit down for an episode before I give my final opinion.
Rebecca ~ I think CHEESE describes it all the way, at least from the trailers so far. I think Meadowlark's point is well taken, too: nothing remotely real crosses the boob tube these days, including the so-called reality shows.
Speaking of Meadowlark... I think you may win your bet before the show even airs. I believe I've seen at least something SWAT-like on one of the trailers!! Although it's a little fuzzy....we shall see.
LOL! Officer Hottie did the giant eye roll and the loud "Puh-lease!" when we saw the previews. Haha!
The scene with the gal cop made me think "What? They just throw someone into a uniform and give them a gun? 'Here ya go!'"
Momma Hen, they only do that if yer smokin' hot, young and single. ;) Sure, you're a danger to yourself and others, but such EYE CANDY!!!!!
